Australia currently produces some of the world’s best medical research, but many promising biotech companies move offshore before their products can be commercialised. Building a strong biotech ecosystem, through a combination of strategic investment, industry-academic collaboration, improved infrastructure and supportive policies, is key to helping Australian biotech companies thrive. In this keynote address, the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation’s (NRFC) Chief Executive Officer David Gall will outline the challenges and opportunities facing Australian biotech businesses and discuss the NRFC’s role in building an investment ecosystem that helps our world-leading companies to commercialise and scale.
