Early-Stage Innovation Forum 2025 Application

A key element of AusBiotech International Conference 2025 is the Early-Stage Innovation Forum, featuring up to 15 presentations on early-stage technologies and projects from local research institutes, universities, hospitals and pre-series A companies in the area of human therapeutics, medical devices and diagnostics, digital health and enabling technologies. Pitches will be made in person to an expert panel that will include international big pharma representatives as well as corporate VCs and early-stage investors.

The Early-Stage Innovation Forum will be delivered during the conference and will be open for AusBiotech International Conference 2025 delegates to attend.

Applicants are invited to submit their project before Friday, 29 August to be considered for a presentation slot on the program. All projects submitted will be reviewed and shortlisted by our appointed Advisory Group. Successful applicants will be notified in September.

Submissions from each State will be considered to ensure representation across Australia. AusBiotech is committed to diversity and inclusion, and actively incorporates gender balance, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its event programmes.

 

Conditions of entry:

  • Submissions are only open to investable projects from Australian research institutions or companies seeking seed or series A investment;
  • Information included in the application process and presented on the day should be non-confidential;
  • Applications from Institutions with Technology Transfer or Research Commercialisation Offices must have prior approval from the relevant technology transfer or commercialisation office, unless the entire IP rights to the project have been assigned to the individual submitting the proposal;
  • Where relevant, applications are preferred from the associated technology transfer or commercialisation offices of the Institutions;
  • Companies seeking seed or series A investment and Institutions without technology transfer or commercialisation offices should apply directly;
  • The Early-Stage Innovation Forum will be delivered in person; therefore all successful applicants are expected to travel to Melbourne and present on Wednesday 22 October 2025;
  • Presenters will be allocated 7 minutes for their pitch, with a further 3 minutes Q&A / feedback from the expert panel.
  • Successful applicants will receive a full day Wednesday pass with the option to upgrade. Participation in this forum is contingent on having either a Wednesday pass or full conference pass registration.
  • Successful applicants will receive a template to be used for the presentation, with a limit of 5 slides (not including the title slide) per presentation. Use of the template will be strictly enforced, although you can apply your own branding and other visual elements to assist in presenting your early-stage technology.

 

To be considered to present your early-stage technology in the forum, you are required to answer a few questions in the following pages:

  1. Name and title of applicant (and LinkedIn URL if available)
  2. Are you a first-time founder/co-founder? (yes/no) If no, please indicate number of prior companies founded
  3. Please indicate the gender representation within your organisation's founders, co-founders, and leadership team (please provide percentages): % male; % female, % other gender identity, % prefer not to say
  4. Institution name and address – Institution or Company Name and address:
  5. Website (if available)
  6. Please indicate your Project / Innovations primary focus area
  7. Project description (maximum 300 words) – please include high level details on the technology, stage of development and what is the problem the innovation will solve
  8. Have you raised any funds for this specific project/innovation? If yes, please indicate (i) amount and (ii) source
  9. What is the investment you are looking for? Please indicate (i) amount (ii) when will these funds be required (iii) proposed use of funds and expected outcome from this spend (max 150 words)
