Details
Australia has world-leading clinicians, researchers and public investment in women’s health, creating a unique opportunity to translate early, clinician-led innovation into globally competitive solutions. Yet many innovations still struggle to scale into companies with international reach and impact. Global “femtech” narratives, often driven by venture capital data, obscure Australia’s distinct innovation pathways — grounded in publicly funded, service-embedded development across medtech, biotech and digital health.
This session explores where translation breaks down, from capital gaps and investment bias to system-embedded development models, and asks how Australia can better convert its clinical and research strengths into sustainable commercial outcomes. It reframes women’s health not as a niche impact category, but as core healthcare infrastructure with significant commercial and global potential.
