Details

In 2016, we started our company – Lin BioScience/Belite Bio with a simple but ambitious mission: to develop treatments for inherited and degenerative eye diseases for which patients had little hope and few, if any, treatment options. Stargardt disease was one of those diseases. For patients and their families, it was a diagnosis with no approved treatment and no clear path forward. We believed that had to change. With limited resources but a strong scientific conviction, we embarked on a journey to turn a deep understanding of disease biology into a potential new treatment. What began as a startup with an ambitious idea evolved over the next decade into a clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing innovative therapies for previously untreatable retinal diseases. Today, nearly ten years later, Belite Bio has reached major milestones on that journey, including becoming a Nasdaq-listed biotechnology company and submitting our first New Drug Applications to the U.S. FDA and Japan’s PMDA. This presentation will share the Belite Bio story—from scientific discovery and target identification, through translational research and clinical development, to regulatory submission and becoming a public biotechnology company. Along the way, I will highlight the scientific breakthroughs, clinical insights, strategic decisions, and challenges that shaped our path from the laboratory to patients. Beyond the science, this journey demonstrates how a focused biotechnology company can make meaningful progress by being disciplined with resources, building robust clinical evidence, and developing a thoughtful global regulatory strategy. Every stage required difficult decisions about where to invest, what to prioritize, and when to take the next step. Ultimately, the journey is about more than building a company or reaching Nasdaq. It is about changing the trajectory of diseases that were once considered untreatable—and bringing meaningful new treatment options closer to the patients who need them most. The journey from bench to Nasdaq is not the destination. It is the platform from which we can take the next step: from innovation to impact, and from hope to a potential new standard of care.
