Details
Australia is investing heavily in health and medical innovation, yet many promising technologies fail to achieve real-world impact because they are driven mainly by scientific or technical “push”, while demand, affordability, implementation, reimbursement, consumer needs, and equity are considered too late. This panel explores value-based innovation: designing R&D around both discovery potential and the conditions required for adoption, scale, and equitable impact. Bringing together leaders from research, industry, translational science, and health economics, the session will discuss how demand shaping, consumer co-design, implementation planning, evidence generation, and continuous value assessment can strengthen translation from discovery to practice. The discussion will examine how Australia can move beyond innovation for novelty alone toward innovation that delivers measurable impact.
