Details
Patient-centred development is standard language across drug and device development, but most programs are still built around the asset. Patient input lives in advisory boards and steering committees, not in the documents that drive decisions: the TPP, clinical endpoints and evidence plan. Endpoints don't reflect what matters most to patients. Trial designs assume a life patients aren't living. Benefit-risk trade-offs are made without the people who have to live with them.
The consequences show up first with patients: therapies that miss what matters, treatments that don't fit into real lives. Only then, downstream, with regulators and payors: avoidable friction, weaker HTA stories, programs that are technically defensible but not patient-informed.
We need to put patient insight upstream, into the TPP. The task is not for patients to direct sponsors. It is for sponsors to listen, and let what they hear reshape programs.
