Details

A trade secret is economically valuable information that is not generally known, has value to those who cannot legitimately obtain it, and has been subject to reasonable efforts to keep it secret. As a species of IP, they're having a moment in the innovation sun. This session will explore the legal frameworks for their protection in Australia, the US and elsewhere; the value they bring to transactions; the heavy implications of their existence for whole-of-business systems and management; and recent developments and case studies highlighting the risks and rewards of deploying them as part of an IP toolkit.
